LTC Robert K. Beale ’02 to Receive 2022 Nininger Award
LTC Robert K. Beale ’02, has been selected to receive the 2022 Alexander R. Nininger Award for Valor at Arms, which will be presented on October 20 at West Point. Beale, who has been deployed more than a dozen times during his career, is currently serving at U.S. Army Special Operations Aviation Command at Fort Bragg, NC. The WPAOG Nininger Award is presented annually to a graduate who is an exemplar of heroic action in battle and is funded by a generous endowment from E. Doug Kenna ’45 and his wife, Jean. The award is named in honor of Lieutenant Alexander R. “Sandy” Nininger Jr. ’41, the first recipient of the Medal of Honor in World War II. Read more about LTC Beale. Branch Week at West Point
Representatives from 17 Army branches educated cadets about their respective career fields through displays across the Academy. The Class of 2023 will find out their branches on December 1. Branch week concluded with The Boxing Rumble, which showcases primarily upper class boxers who chose to represent a particular branch to raise Corps morale, team visibility, and support Branch Week! USMA 2023 Ring Weekend
On August 26, the Class of 2023 received their rings during the ring ceremony at Trophy Point. GEN Edward M. Daly ’87, 20th Commanding General of the U.S. Army Materiel Command, delivered the keynote remarks at the banquet. Gold from rings dating back to 1896, donated through WPAOG's Ring Memorial program, was used in the making of the class rings, tangibly connecting the Class of 2023 to the Long Gray Line. Photos.

Superintendent’s Circle Weekend
WPAOG hosted members of the Superintendent’s Circle September 9-10 at the annual Superintendent’s Circle Weekend. The weekend included a Friday evening dinner at Eisenhower Hall with members of the USMA and WPAOG Leader Teams and cheering on Army at the football game. Superintendent’s Circle Weekend recognized donors who made gifts of $2,500 or more to the Superintendent’s Annual Fund or the West Point Parents Fund in 2021. View photos.

Cadets Attend Annual Writing Retreat
Cadets in Vision and Rhetoric recently attended the annual Peter Zhu Writing Retreat. The writing retreat provides respite from the demands of cadet life. During the retreat, cadets have focused time for deep, reflective writing and receive intensive mentorship sessions with faculty and alumni. This Margin of Excellence activity for cadets pays tribute to Peter’s legacy as a leader, cadet, and friend dedicated to helping others.

Volleyball Sweeps Navy
Army West Point Volleyball secured a straight-set win over Navy in the annual Army-Navy Star Series on Saturday night in front of an energetic crowd at Gillis Field House. It’s the first time Army swept Navy since November 6, 2015. Read more.

Monken Moves Up Army All Time Win List
With the 49-10 victory over the Villanova Wildcats, Army West Point Football Head Coach Jeff Monken logged his 59th career win at Army West Point, breaking the tie and surpassing the legendary Charles Daly for No. 2 on the Academy's all-time win list.
