West Point has been buzzing with activity these past few weeks, as your cadets have been busy with final projects, term end exams and the variety of holiday activities that take place here. Of course, all of this activity and energy increased exponentially when our football team defied the odds in Baltimore and led Army to a victory over the Navy Midshipmen for the first time in 15 years. If you saw the game, you witnessed an indescribable excitement on the field and throughout the stadium, and I suspect that feeling isn’t going away any time soon. As you prepare to celebrate the holidays with your sons and daughters, I’d like to thank you for your continued support of West Point and the Corps of Cadets. You can be very proud of these incredible young men and women, and I hope you’ll enjoy your time together over the winter break. As you’re celebrating, please remember those who are deployed this holiday season around the globe, and keep them, and their families and loved ones, in your thoughts and prayers. From our family to yours, Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.

The USMA Cyber Policy Team placed first at the Inaugural NY Cyber 9/12 Student Challenge at Columbia University on Nov. 6. Competing against 21 other teams, mostly from graduate schools, the USMA team was the only undergraduate team to make it to the finals, beating three other teams (two from Columbia's School of International and Public Affairs and one from Tuft's Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy). The cadets formed an interdisciplinary team that drew upon their knowledge of international affairs, cybersecurity, national security, and international law to demonstrate their mastery of policy concepts in the cyber domain.

Over 90 people registered for the event, but many more showed up, and the cold and windy weather did not put a damper on the festivities.
