The West Point Society of Greater Cincinnati conducted its 11th annual Leadership & Ethics Seminar for high school students last week. There were approximately 150 participants from approximately 50 schools. Congressman Warren Davidson ’95 (R-OH 8th District) was the featured speaker.
A number of ROTC cadets from Xavier and Miami Universities were present, along with their PMS, LTC Stanfield. They all served as adjunct faculty for the small group sessions. The WPS of Greater Cincinnati’s partnership with this ROTC program has continued for several years during both the Leaders of Character event and the West Point Middle School Mobile STEM Workshop. The partnership strengthens the bond between ROTC and USMA while benefiting both the seminar participants and the ROTC cadets.
The partnership began when Mike Marchetti ’02 was PMS who is now retired from the military, working for P&G, and currently a civilian faculty member.
At the conclusion of the event, scholarships were presented to four students in honor of Chuck Ausman who passed away in 2020. Applicants for the scholarships were previous participants who subsequently completed a mentoring process in their schools, and returned as student facilitators this year. They completed a competitive application for the award. The scholarships were made possible with a grant from the Heidt Family Foundation.
