On March 16, 2024, the West Point Society of Annapolis (WPSOA) held its 38th annual Founders Day celebration. The in-person event was held at Café Mezzanotte, Severna Park, MD, and was attended by forty-four WPSOA members and guests.
Following the Benny Havens hour, President Steve Heinecke ’77 discussed the status and purpose of the WPSOA, before initiating the traditional toasts. Following dinner, the business portion of the evening was presented, including a summary of the WPSOA’s 2023 income and expenses, as well as its membership growth. Also presented, was the planned 2024 Calendar of Events for guest consideration.
Following the Superintendent’s video, WPAOG’s Bob Curran ’72 updated the guests on activities underway at WPAOG, before the oldest grad, Jim Greenberg ’68, and youngest grad, Bryan Rupert ’13, provided brief commentary on the Corps and their experiences.
The evening culminated with Rich DeMarco, Assistant Athletic Director and “The Voice of Army Football,” addressing the audience on his experiences with Army Athletics, providing humorous anecdotes, and discussing the planned improvements for Michie Stadium. The evening concluded with the singing of the Alma Mater.
