Army West Point Football’s linebacker CDT Andon Thomas ’26 has been selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced by the organization on January 7. Thomas has also been selected as a CSC Academic All-America® finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on January 28.
The 2024 Academic All-District® Football teams, selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC), recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes football honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and the NAIA.
Thomas, who is from Liberty Hill, Texas, has a 3.98 grade-point average while majoring in chemical engineering. He is especially interested in the application of chemical engineering principles to Army technology development. Thomas plans to pursue graduate studies in chemical engineering, conduct advanced research in an area that will benefit the Army’s technical challenges, and return to West Point as a faculty member in the Department of Chemistry and Life Science.
On the field, Thomas enjoyed a breakout season, starting in all 14 games and leading the Army defense with 98 tackles (48 solo). He also registered 3.5 tackles for loss, half a sack, and hauled in two interceptions. He was selected to the AAC all-conference third team for his standout play.
