West Point firsties celebrated Branch Night on November 29 where the class of 2024 opened their envelopes to receive their U.S. Army branch assignments.

Branch Night for the Class of 2019
After four years of learning about the 17 branches of the U.S. Army through the various initiatives surrounding the Branch Education and Mentorship Program (e.g. Branch Week, military instruction courses, summer training, etc.), on that night, November 14, 2018, the firsties finally learned what their identity, beyond “cadet,” will be in the profession of arms for the next five years or more.

Branch Night for the Class of 2018
Approximately 1,000 firsties nervously packed the lower auditorium by cadet company, hoping that the envelopes they were about to receive from their “Old St. TAC” contained the branch insignia they had placed on their wish list.

Branch Night electrifies First Class cadets like no other event, save for Graduation. “We are super excited, super pumped up,” said CDT Bobby Provine ’17 as he and his E-4 company mates entered Eisenhower Auditorium for the event.
