February was Black History month, and last month cadets, faculty, and staff welcomed retired Air Force LTC Tony Marshall as the guest speaker of the Black History Month Observance luncheon at the U.S. Military Academy’s West Point Club. Marshall spoke about his experiences as a cadet during the 1960s at the US Air Force Academy, his tenure as an officer, his time spent as a prisoner of war during the Vietnam War, and imparted wisdom to cadets on the importance of financial literacy, equality, and what it means to serve and lead the Nation honorably. The theme for this observance was “Inspiring Change.” This observance runs through the entire month of February and celebrates the contributions of African Americans to our Nation.
