MAJ Jessica Jones Lasley ’00 First Woman to Finish Ironman Tulsa
The first woman across the finish line at the 2023 Certified Piedmontese Beef Ironman Tulsa competition was MAJ Jessica Jones Lasley ’00, who finished just before 5:30 p.m. in 9 hours, 43 minutes and 49 seconds. Lasley, who led the field of 106 women competing in the full Ironman, finished in 13th place overall.

Sahm’s Unique Path to West Point
Firstie Sahm Abdulrazzaq ’23 recently completed his four-year career as a cadet-athlete on the Army West Point Wrestling team. His brother Fahad is a junior, who also attends the United States Military Academy and is a cadet-athlete on the boxing team. His family’s story of service began during dire times amid World War II when his father fought at the Battle of Bataan with the 57th Infantry Regiment (Philippine Scouts) and then was captured as a Japanese prisoner of war and survived the Bataan Death March. To this day, the fight continues for retired MG Antonio Taguba as he is taking the mantle to help Filipino warriors from that era to receive their due through an injustice made by the American government shortly after the war ended nearly 80 years ago.
