The Games of the XXXIII Olympiad in Paris this summer mark the end of an era for the modern pentathlon. Since the inception of modern pentathlon at the 1912 Olympics, horseback riding over jumps has been one of the five disciplines of the sport (along with fencing, pistol shooting, swimming, and cross-country running).

West Point Class of 1964 Stays Connected Through Hiking Club
While anticipating their 60th class reunion, Mont Hubbard ‘64 asked his classmate Steve Weisel ’64, “Why don’t we head to West Point a couple days early and do some hiking?” Hubbard and Weisel, founding members of the Class of 1964 hiking club, began planning the logistics and the group made history as the oldest group of West Point graduates to make it up the Torne monument.

Last year, Army West Point Head Hockey Coach Brian Riley started telling people, “You don’t come to West Point to play in the NHL, you come to own a team in the NHL” after 2022-23 Stanley Cup Vegas Golden Knights owner, Bill Foley ’67 brought the cup back to West Point for cadets to celebrate. Maybe he wasn’t wrong.
