Since 1960, nearly 150 West Point graduates have pursued graduate study as Olmsted Scholars, many of whom later rose to important positions of senior leadership in the Army (including Ambassador and General John P. Abizaid ’73 [Retired], former Commander, U.S. Central Command; and Lieutenant General Patrick J. Donahue ’80 [Retired], former Deputy Commander, U.S. Army Forces Command).

Thomas Roberts ’04 released the book “The Gospel of You: Start Telling Your Story.” According to Roberts, being able to tell one’s own story in different scenarios, situations, under pressure, under any circumstance, and in any setting can be the difference between a life of advancement and opportunity or a life mired in mediocrity and regret.

Johnson ’76 Announced as the 39th Black Engineer of the Year
Ron Johnson ’76, Chief of Staff and Senior Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Georgia Institute of Technology, was nominated for the prestigious Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) at the 39th Annual BEYA STEM DTX Conference. This event which honors excellence in STEM will take place in Baltimore, Maryland, in February 2025, recognizing Johnson’s extraordinary career and leadership in engineering, public service, and higher education.
