Obama To Receive 2024 Sylvanus Thayer Award
Barack Obama, 44th President of the United States, will receive the 2024 Sylvanus Thayer Award from the West Point Association of Graduates. Obama will be the fifth U.S. president to receive the Thayer Award during its 67-year history. The award will be presented on September 19, 2024, during ceremonies hosted by the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

President Joe Biden, 46th president of the United States, was the graduation speaker marking West Point’s 226th graduating class and the 45th anniversary of the first class to graduate women.

The Class of 1974 started their journey with the Class of 2024 July 12-14, 2020 during a staggered R-Day due to Covid restrictions. Over the next four years, the grads accompanied their affiliated cadets at a multitude of significant Academy events such as Cow Affirmation Ceremony, Ring Weekend, Ring Memorial program, and Branch Night.
