Army West Point Men’s Soccer’s CDT Kasem Minzey ’28 was named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week on September 2. The plebe defender from Granger, Indiana, played 66 minutes off the bench in the Black Knights’ 2-1 win at academy rival Air Force. The back line held the Falcons without a goal until the match’s penultimate minute.
Minzey also forced a midfield turnover, received the ball on a breakaway, and took contact, leading to CDT Gage Lyons ’27 penalty kick goal at Air Force. The goal occurred in the 75′ as the Army went up 2-0 over their rival from Colorado.
It’s the second time in as many weeks an Army player won the league’s Rookie of the Week accolade after CDT Ronald Zhai ’28 was bestowed the award on August 26.
