FOX News Media honored GEN (R) Richard Cody ’72 with the FOX Weather Ultimate Patriot Award on December 5 at the 2024 Patriot Awards in Long Island, New York. Cody was recognized for his heroic efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.
Cody, a 2016 WPAOG Distinguished Graduate Award recipient, took to the skies in support of relief efforts. While quick access to those in North Carolina’s mountain communities became limited due to impassable roads, the former Army Aviator used his privately owned helicopter to deliver much needed cold weather supplies to families impacted by Hurricane Helene.
