The Army West Point Equestrian Team recently had a successful show at Crosswinds Farm in Lagrangeville, New York, hosted by Marist College. The cold and windy day did not dampen the enthusiasm of the team as they rode to Reserve Champion honors for the second week in a row. The day was filled with outstanding horsemanship and sportsmanship, which resulted in Army earning the tricolor ribbon. The first Army win of the day was awarded to CDT Daphne Karahalios ’24 for her efforts on Ducky in Intermediate Equitation over Fences. Also taking a win was CDT Claire Shioutakon ’27 in Intermediate Equitation on the Flat. CDT Kathryn Meyer ’27 placed second in Limit Equitation on the Flat. CDT Michaela Staniec ’27 placed second in Novice Equitation on the Flat. Many additional ribbons were received adding to the success of the day.
There are nearly 120 cadet clubs at West Point including athletic, recreational, academic, religious, hobby, and diversity clubs – something for virtually every interest, made possible by donors supporting the Margin of Excellence.
