West Point’s Class of 2026 unveiled its class crest on March 4, during the Plebe Parent Weekend Banquet. The evening’s guest speaker was Command Sgt. Maj. Ruth Drewitt, Command Sergeant Major, U.S. Army Garrison Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland.
Plebe Parent Weekend gives parents, family members, and friends of first year cadets the unique opportunity to view West Point through their cadet’s eyes, meet with senior leaders, learn what they have accomplished since Reception Day, and what’s ahead during the rest of their 47-month experience.
Upon the sides of our class crest, you shall find the spirited and patriotic motto of the Class of 2026: “For Country We Commit”.
As we gaze upon the Class of 2026 crest, we behold a true representation of the essence of our great nation.
The hanging banners, a vivid reflection of the United States of America, with 8 stars and 4 stripes adorning each flag, uniting to form the emblem of our class – 26.
The eagle, a symbol of pride and freedom, soars majestically above the banners, with its wings outstretched, ever vigilant in guarding our nation’s honor. Its sleek and resplendent appearance serves as a reminder of our country’s continual progress and advancement with the changing times.
The sabers, resting gracefully over the flags, signify our commitment to defend our nation with action and not solely words. We stand ready to defend and protect our great land with all our might.
And finally, the helmet of Athena, the time-honored symbol of West Point, evokes the ancient and noble traditions of just and righteous warfare.
