The West Point Coaches’ Character-Building Formula
Using an unwritten formula, West Point coaches have inspired and helped train thousands of cadets to become commissioned leaders of character. What principles would be on the West Point coach’s blueprint for character? It could start, “I am a West Point coach who coaches warrior athletes,” and would likely include an ethos about Duty, Honor, Country and the Army values. Coaching philosophies from each West Point coach would provide additional principles to the formula.

Branch Night for the Class of 2016
After four years of learning about the 17 branches of the U.S. Army through initiatives surrounding the Branch Education and Mentorship Program (e.g. Branch Week, military instruction courses, summer training, etc.), members of the Class of 2016 packed the orchestra level of Eisenhower Hall by company to learn of their future officer identity in the Army.

The Class of 2016 gathered together at Trophy Point Amphitheater to receive their class rings during the annual Ring Ceremony, Aug. 28, 2015.

Ring Melt for Class of 2016
This year, the Class of 2016 received gold from 34 West Point class rings, the oldest belonging to LTC (R) Reeve Douglas Keiler from the Class of 1924. In addition, they received a class ring belonging to LTC (R) John Hamilton Boyd III from the Class of 1966, which is the Class of 2016’s 50-Year Affiliation Class.

Class of 2016 Cow Affirmation Ceremony
USMA Class of 2016 gathered in Robinson Auditorium, Aug. 17, to affirm their commitment to complete their final two years of study at West Point and serve at least five years of active military service.

Class of 2016 Yearling Flag Ceremony
Cadet Field Training (CFT) for the Class of 2016 might have been cut short because of sequestration, but its concluding ceremony maintained all its grandeur as awards were handed out to top companies and cadets, a Class Flag was unveiled, and a guest speaker gave a motivational address to the rising yearlings.
