Army outside linebacker CDT Jimmy Ciarlo ’24 has received an undrafted free agent opportunity to play in the NFL from the New York Jets.
Ciarlo was one of four team captains as a firstie in 2023, logging career highs with 58 tackles (29 solo), 5.5 tackles for loss, 3.0 sacks and one forced fumble. Over the last two seasons (2022-23), the Ringwood, N.J. native started all 24 games at OLB for the Army defense.
At Army’s on-campus pro day in March, Ciarlo turned in an impressive workout, repping 34 on the 225lb bench press, which would have been tied for the second most out of all participants at the NFL Combine. His mark would have only been beaten by an offensive lineman.
This marks back-to-back seasons Army has placed a player in the NFL.
Army currently has five other active NFL players, all of whom entered the league as UDFA’s: Andre Carter II ’23 (2023, OLB, Minnesota Vikings), Jon Rhattigan ’21 (2021, LB, Seattle Seahawks), Cole Christiansen ’20 (2020, LB, Kansas City), Elijah Riley ’20 (2020, DB, Pittsburgh Steelers), and Brett Toth ’18 (2019, OL, Philadelphia Eagles).
