Army Women’s Soccer Earns Star Over Navy for Third Consecutive Year

The Army West Point Women’s Soccer team had a historic victory over Navy on October 19 at Malek Stadium, clinching the star for the third consecutive season. The 4-0 victory is the largest over the Midshipmen in program history, and it is the first three-game win streak since Army won the first five matchups of the series (1994-1997).

CDT Grace Pohlidal ’28 kicked off the game in the 26th minute with assists from CDTs Cami Silvestro ’26 and Brigid Duffy ’26. Just 13 short minutes later, CDT Kaelan Bradley ’25 sent a rocket off her left foot into the back of the net to go up 2-0. That score would hold into halftime as Army would outshoot the Midshipmen a staggering 16-4 and 8-2 on goal in the first 45 minutes.

The second half, much like the first half, was all Army. Duffy made it a 3-0 game in the 59th minute off an assist from Silvestro. Silvestro would log her career-high third assist in the 77th minute, finding Hannah Pohlidal ’25 for her first career goal, making it a 4-0 lead.

Neither Pohlidal sister had scored a goal in their careers, but both scored in the biggest game of the season. Silvestro’s three assists are the most in a game since 2020, when Erynn Johns ’21 had three against Colgate. CDT Sage Strohman ’25 earned her 25th career clean sheet, moving into a tie for second-most in program history with Sydney Cassalia ’21.

In the end, Army outshot Navy 26-7, 12-3 on goal, en route to the most dominant win over Navy in program history. This is the first time in program history that the Black Knights have swept Air Force and Navy in the same season in back-to-back years and the fourth time overall (1997, 2004, 2023, 2024).
