Buffalo Soldier Wreath Laying Ceremony
In 1907, a detachment of Buffalo Soldiers was assigned to West Point to support cadet riding instruction and mounted drill, as well as to support the Garrison. Cavalry Field was renamed Buffalo Soldiers Field in 1973, and each year we remember these men for their bravery, honor and persistent sense of duty that helped pave the way for equal opportunities across the Army. The Buffalo Soldiers were honored during a Wreath Laying Ceremony during the review on September 21.
