Army West Point Hockey (9-15-0, 9-8-0 Atlantic Hockey America) earned the sweep over Air Force (11-14-1, 8-8-0 Atlantic Hockey America) with a 4-3 overtime win on January 18 over the Falcons in front of a sold out crowd at Tate Rink.
CDT Jack Ivey ’28 netted the game-winning goal off a backhanded assist from CDT Mac Gadowsky ’27, who had tied the game at three with a power-play goal in the third period. Army trailed 3-1 entering the final frame before mounting a comeback to force overtime.
The win marked Army’s first sweep over Air Force since November 2014 and first at home since January 2008.
The four-game winning streak is also the first since the 2020-21 season for the Black Knights who have catapulted up the AHA standings over the past two weekends.
Both teams scored in the first period but after a two goal second period for the Falcons, Army came soaring back to tie the game 3-3 in the third period and secured the 4-3 win in overtime with a goal from Jack Ivey to claim their first sweep over Air Force at Tate Rink in 16 years.
It marked Army’s first overtime win since February 2023 as it was just the second overtime contest of the season to this point.
Army will travel to Robert Morris on January 24 as it looks to extend its winning streak with a pair of conference games on tap.
