Support for West Point Graduates Affected by California Wildfires

Category: Grad News

As wildfires continue to impact communities across California, the West Point Association of Graduates is here to offer support to our fellow alumni. We understand that these challenging times can be difficult to navigate, and we want to remind our West Point graduates that you are not alone. To those in the West Point Society of Los Angeles, we are standing beside you and sending our most heartfelt well wishes.

The Grads Helping Grads program is a resource designed to connect graduates who need help with those who can provide it. Whether you are seeking assistance with navigating the challenges caused by the wildfires, managing personal or professional transitions, or accessing critical resources, our network is here to support you.

Through the Grads Helping Grads program and your local societies, we connect alumni in need with fellow graduates who are ready and willing to help.

If you are currently in California and need assistance or would like to offer support, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

“My family and friends in Pacific Palisades are all safe which is really all that matters. Unfortunately, we lost our house and another house down the street where we raised our older boys. We got the mandatory evacuation order at 12:30pm on Tuesday afternoon and I wasn’t quick enough or smart enough to take my diploma, my USMA class painting, my cadet saber, full dress coat (that said, I’m not sure I fit in that any more), cadet parka, etc. To keep it safe, I put my class ring in a safety deposit box in the Chase Bank, but that burned down too (not sure if the vault survived yet)… What’s that song ‘If I didn’t have bad luck, I’d have no luck at all…’? But at the end of the day, that’s all just stuff and having everyone alive and safe is what matters. We’ll rebuild our homes, our Palisades community and our lives back brick by brick. As I’ve been saying to everyone I’ve seen recently – how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time…

Hope everyone stays safe and these winds die down. Please pray for our firefighters and other first responders who are out there doing amazing work in the most challenging of circumstances. Much love to you all.”
