Army West Point Wrestling’s CDT Ethan Berginc ’26 capped off a team second-place finish at the Black Knight Invitational with a title in the 133 lb weight class. Berginc—who entered the day as the No. 1 seed in his weight class—defeated Gardner-Webb’s TK Davis in the final. A rematch from Army’s dual win in the Throwdown on Yorktown on November 8, the junior won 9-6 by decision in a match decided by the final period. The Jeannette, Pennsylvania native was 4-0 overall on the day. An opening-round win over Kyison Garcia of Penn State set the tone for an 11-5 decision over Andrew Hampton of Michigan State and a 10-1 injury default victory over Columbia’s Boris Witmer.

The Black Knights finished with a team score of 130.5, second overall behind only Penn State and nearly 50 points ahead of third-place Michigan State. Army placed ahead of Big Ten participants MSU and Rutgers at Christl Arena. Columbia, Gardner-Webb, LIU, Binghamton and Bloomsburg rounded out the event, held across six mats.

CDTs Charles Farmer ’26 (125 lbs) and Gunner Filipowicz ’27 (165 lbs)—both No. 2 seeds in their respective weight classes—fell in their respective finals to top-seeded wrestlers from Penn State. CDTs Richard Treanor ’25 (141 lbs), Dakota Morris ’27 (157 lbs), Dalton Harkins ’25 (174 lbs), and Brady Colbert ’28 (285 lbs) each finished in third place. CDTs Braden Basile ’27 (141 lbs) and Cooper Haase ’28 (174 lbs) followed in fourth, Trae McDaniel ’26 (149 lbs) and Wolfgang Frable ’26 (197 lbs) placed fifth and Caleb Uhorchuk ’27 (125 lbs) slotted in sixth. CDTs Mason Barvitskie ’28 (149 lbs) and Colbert both recorded two wins by fall, Filipowicz, Haase, and Andrew Christie ’27 (184 lbs) each recorded a pair of bonus point wins, and Frable won three times by major decision.
