West Point Grads Take Charge in Hurricane Relief and Recovery

Category: Grad News
Class Years: ,

In the wake of Hurricanes Helene’s and Milton’s devastating impact, West Point graduates have rallied together to provide critical support for relief efforts. Leveraging their leadership and organizational skills, they’ve coordinated fundraising drives, organized supply chains, and deployed teams to assist affected communities. From raising funds for emergency aid to volunteering boots on the ground, West Point grads are stepping up to bring immediate relief, ensuring those impacted have access to food, shelter, and essential resources in this difficult time.

Recently, GEN (R) Richard A. Cody ’72, a 2016 WPAOG Distinguished Graduate Awardee, took to the skies in support of relief efforts. While quick access to those in North Carolina’s mountain communities became limited due to impassable roads, the former Army Aviator used his privately owned helicopter to deliver much needed cold weather supplies to families impacted by Hurricane Helene.

Efforts are not just about addressing short-term needs but also focused on long-term recovery and rebuilding. West Point graduates are partnering with local organizations to help reconstruct homes, restore infrastructure, and provide ongoing assistance to those most affected by the storm. Their dedication to service, even beyond the military, showcases commitment to making a meaningful impact in communities in need, standing united with those affected by these hurricanes.

Your West Point Association of Graduates is also here to support the Long Gray Line in times of need through the Gripping Hands program. The program is non-financial in nature and its intent is to help connect graduates and their immediate family members with information and resources in times of need. If you are looking for assistance, please call us directly at 845.446.1677 or email us at GHG@wpaog.org.
