West Point Men’s Club Hockey improves to 3-0 with victories at Boston U and Bryant.
Center CDT Ben Gaucher ’25 and Defenseman CDT Chris Tamer ’26 each had a goal and an assist as West Point Men’s Club Hockey defeated Boston University 4-3 on September 28 at Foxboro Sports Center. The Black Knights then improved to 3-0 on September 29 with an 8-3 triumph at Bryant University in Walpole, Mass.
Gaucher, who had two goals in Army’s season-opening 5-3 win against Marist College on September 22, was again the hero. Against BU, the 6-foot-3 firstie redirected Tamer’s shot from the point with just one minute and 28 seconds remaining in regulation for the game winner. He also redirected a shot from the point on September 29 for his team-leading fourth goal of the season.
“You can’t complain about coming away with two wins on the road, but we definitely aren’t satisfied,” firstie defenseman and Team Captain CDT Anthony Chambers ’25 said. “There are a lot of things to work on, but it’s early in the season and we are still figuring out how to play our game for a complete 60 minutes.” He added: “Proud of the way the boys battled and stuck up for one another.”
CDTs Liam Monahan ’27 (2-0) and Jackson Siddall ’27 (1-0) shared weekend goaltending duties, with “Mono” getting the big win at BU.
“It’s great to see Siddall get his first collegiate win. He and Mono are a phenomenal one-two punch between the pipes,” Chambers said.
Defenseman CDT Bobby Staring ’26 led the way offensively against Bryant with four points (two goals), and Winger CDT Charlie Aronov ’26 had three points (two assists).
West Point returns to the Boston area on October 5 for a rematch with 2023 national champion UMass-Amherst. The teams split against each other last season, with Army downing the Minutemen at the Northwest Regional to advance for the program’s first trip to nationals.
There are more than 120 clubs at West Point including athletic, recreational, academic, religious, hobby, and diversity clubs – something for virtually every interest, made possible by the generous supporters who contribute to the Margin of Excellence.
