The Army West Point Women’s Soccer team received the top spot in the 2024 Patriot League Women’s Soccer Preseason Poll, with Team Captain CDT Sage Strohman ’25 capturing Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year honors, and had three others named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, the league announced.
“Sage has consistently been outstanding for us between the posts and in commanding the box,” Head Coach Tracy Chao said. “Additionally, her ability to play an instrumental part in our offense and lead in all four moments of the game is invaluable. We are also excited to see the continued impact and development of players who were instrumental in our past seasons’ successes. Along with Sage, it is an honor to have fellow Team Captain CDT Kaelan Bradley ’25, as well as CDTs Brigid Duffy ’26 and Keira Vesy ’25, recognized.”
The Black Knights collected 155 points and garnered 13 of the 20 first place votes as voted by the league’s head coaches and SID’s who cannot vote for their own school/athletes. Bucknell was tabbed second with five first place votes, Boston U checks in at third place with two first place votes.
Strohman is coming off a massive junior season that saw her finish with Second Team All-Patriot League Honors. Her career 0.95 goals against average is fifth best in program history. Her 19 shutouts ranks fourth most in program history, and she sits just outside the top five in saves all time with 204.
Joining her on the Preseason All-Patriot League Team are three teammates: fellow team captain Kaelan Bradley, Brigid Duffy, and Keira Vesy. Bradley and Duffy led the team in points last with 17 apiece. Duffy led the team with seven goals and Bradley led with seven assists. Vesy held down the back line for the Black Knights last season helping guide Army to only allowing 0.89 goals per game. She played all but 20 minutes last season, including all 110 of the Patriot League Championship game.
