The West Point Parents Club of Kentucky had an energized and inspiring sendoff in June for the class of 2027 Cadet Candidates, and farewell celebration for two new Old Grads. Thank you to the Day family (Josh, ’27) for hosting us so nicely in Nicholasville! The candidates were able to spend some good time getting to know each other and getting to know a bit more about the 47-month experience ahead of them, thanks to great conversations with New Old Grads 2LT’s Hannah Funke and Samuel Martin from the Class of 2023, Sam Hosbach ’24 and McCain Penrod ’26. We appreciated all of them being there to offer advice and encouragement, and to answer questions. Also representing the Long Gray Line were Past President Eric Benson ’85, parent of Anika Benson ’24 and Ryan Benson ’26 and Chris Penrod ’85, parent of McCain Penrod ’26, as well as Field Force Officer Col. Robert Farquar ’76.
It was also wonderful for the parents and families to meet each other, and we look forward to the many other opportunities to enjoy this kind of fellowship and offer support to the cadets and families throughout their 47-month experience joining the Long Gray Line.
