Don Kopinski joined the West Point Association of Graduates as a Leadership Gifts Officer in January of 2022. He is a “Top of the Line ’79” USMA graduate, entering West Point from Pittsburgh, PA. Commissioned Armor, he served at Ft. Riley KS in both line and staff positions. Upon leaving the Army in 1984, his career included positions in both the public and private sectors. Public sector positions included roles with the Army Management Engineering College and the Army Industrial Operations Command, both at Rock Island, IL, as well as the Ohio Departments of Health and Human Services. Private sector experience included defense contracting work at Battelle Memorial Institute and technology-based roles at Computer Sciences Corporation and JP Morgan Chase.
Don has been active in West Point alumni activities, having served as the President of his local West Point Society for 10 years and a member of the WPAOG Advisory Council for 9 years. He was also a member of the WPAOG 150th Anniversary planning committee and the co-chair for the Class of 1979 40th Reunion.
Don and his wife Kim have made Columbus, OH their home since 1988. Kim’s father was a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer; however, she cheers for the correct team at every Army-Navy game!
