This year’s West Point Rotary Global Grant Scholars are Vani Verma ’23 and Kyle Kass ’23.
Verma will study for an MSc in Cancer at University College London before serving as a Military Intelligence Officer with the hopes of eventually serving within the Army Medical Corps.
“Being a Rotary Scholar is an incredible opportunity through which I can connect research in the United Kingdom to US Army medicine to help improve cancer treatment accessibility,” Verma said.
Kass will study for an MSc in Energy Systems at the University of Oxford before serving as an Infantry Officer where he wants to combine his energy knowledge and research with the needs of the Army’s ground combat forces to ensure sustainable combat operations.
“I am excited to represent the Rotarian legacy of selfless service through my graduate studies and military service,” Kass said.
Rotary Global Grant scholars earn a one-year master’s degree outside the US in their respective disciplines while focusing their research on one of Rotary’s six areas of focus: peace and conflict prevention/resolution, disease prevention and treatment, water and sanitation, maternal and child health, basic education and literacy, and economic and community development.
