The Eighth Annual Ring Melt for the Class Ring Memorial Program was held on 31 March, 2008 at the Pease & Curren Refinery in Warwick, Rhode Island. In attendance from West Point were the Class of 2009 Vice-President and Ring & Crest Chair; the Class Advisor and OIC; the Cadet Store Manager; the Cadet Hostess; the Vice-President for Alumni Support; the Director of Class Support; and many family members and friends of the Ring Donors. Twenty-four Rings—the most ever—were included in this Ring Melt, bringing the total to 142 Rings donated since the inception of the Ring Memorial Program for the Bicentennial Class of 2002. The Ring Melt was again graciously hosted by Pease & Curren and directed by Keith Edwards, USMA 1985.
The Ring Melt is the event that enables the symbolic link among all those wearing a USMA Class Ring to become a tangible connection. This year’s Melt helped to forge another link in the chain that binds together West Point graduates and their friends and families.
The West Point Association of Graduates already has five donated Class Rings for the Class of 2010, so the Class Ring Memorial Program is alive and well and will continue to play a key role in connecting past, present, and future graduates.
