West Point Giving

Since 1869, the West Point Association of Graduates (WPAOG) has worked to strengthen the bonds between West Point Graduates and bring them together in support of their alma mater. See the examples of leadership and giving West Point has produced.

2009 Nininger Award

The Nininger Award was instituted in 2006 upon a suggestion from Doug Kenna ’45 (College Football Hall of Fame, 1984) that West Point AOG bring stories of valor exhibited by graduates in combat in the Global War on Terrorism to the attention of the Corps of Cadets. Each year, a graduate decorated for valor in combat is selected to represent all of the young graduates leading American Soldiers in combat,  and to return to West Point to not only speak to the Corps of Cadets at dinner, but to also interact with our cadets in less formal seminar sessions. Our sincere "Thank You," to Mr. and Mrs. Doug Kenna for supporting this award annually, ensuring its endowment in perpetuity. (Photo: Doug Kenna '45, Mrs. Kenna, Superintendent Hagenbeck, and 2009 Nininger Award recipient, Captain Nicholas Eslinger '07)
